Pileated Woodpecker - 18" / Steel
When I think of a woodpecker, the first one that comes to mind is the Pileated Woodpecker. I'm continually amazed at how big they can get. I've seen some that grow larger than crows. They typically have black colouring with bold white stripes down the neck and a flaming-red crest. You'll usually hear them before you see them, as their high frequency pecking can quickly hollow out tree trunks in search for carpenter ants and other goodies. The resulting hollows left in tree trunks often provide homes for owls, chipmunks and other species of birds!
This Pileated Woodpecker is 18" overall in length and is cut from 3/16" mild steel. There are (2) spikes designed into the talons so the woodpecker can be mounted on your favourite post or tree trunk!
